Art is a source of human connection. As an artist I work intuitively and my art is an expression of our ideas and emotions. Sharing my art with others is rewarding as well as making me feel more engaged with people.
Hi there, my name is Nahida and I am a mixed media artist based in the UK. I grew up in Hampshire and studied the BA Hons Fine Art and Related Arts Degree in Sussex.
After graduating I moved to London to work in administration. My exhibitions include group shows at the Mall Galleries, the Koppel Project Gallery and with the charity Mind.
My work consists of mainly paintings, prints and collages. It is influenced by nature – seascape, landscape and still-life.
Recycled materials are used in my work. It is more sustainable for the planet. The intrinsic qualities of materials like cloth, paper and metal play a key role in the formation of each work.
The work is in mixed media. My colour palette often reflects tropical hues of paint in blues, greens and golds. Common motifs which appear throughout my work are : asymmetrical shapes, contrasting textures and torn or creased fragments. Techniques such as layering, dripping and rubbing add a sense of movement in my compositions.
Hopefully, the viewer enjoys my art and also sees that art goes way beyond mark making. Art can be used as a method of connecting with ourselves and a way of communicating with others.
